I have a customer that may upgrade the 6000/Sup II controller I installed for them nearly 6 years ago with a 7200 series.  He's running 5.0.4.7 on the 6000.  Should the configuration from the 6000 be portable to the 7200 or may I have to rebuild his entire configuration?

If I have to do that I would probably dump the config into a text file and rebuild through a combination of CLI and GUI.  Is there a better way?  I'm trying to figure out how much time to allot for such an operation and understand the ramifications.

    Thanks!

The 7200 Runs on 6.2.0.1 and above.  Please check out the release notes for 6.2.0.1 and it provides detailed instructions on how to upgrade from other platforms to the 7200.  Don't be afraid to post here or open a support case if you get stuck, as well.

The migration path from the release notes is to upgrade the existing controller to 6.2 and then copy the configuration file over.  However, it also states that Sup II controllers are not supported on Release 6.2 and to contact Aruba support.  It sounds like I should start a case then.

Please let me know on your progress with this one. We are also looking to do this same upgrade. I do know configuration between 5.x and 6.1 are pretty straight forward with some minor changes in CPSec and some other features. The config looks very similar between the two.
