    Hi Airheads Experts,

We have a specific enviroment with some wifi capable (.11n) media encoders which streaming some video to a wired laptop (VLC player) but there is some problem with it when this clients roam one AP to another. When roam the clients, the stream always stop.

We did some tests with two laptops where one streaming a video to another with VLC media player. And in this case the video stream was excelent and didn'nt stoped when the client was roaming.

I think the problem is with the media encoder but do you have any other idea what could be the problem? Or is there any additional configuration or best practices in this case?

Thank you in advance for your reply!

    Br.,

    Zs

What is the bandwidth of this stream?

What band are these devices operating on?

What is the codec in use?

How many devices are you streaming to at one time?

    Hi,

    Please see my answers below.

What is the bandwidth of this stream? - 2-3 Mbps

What band are these devices operating on? Both and we tried with both 2,4 and 5 Ghz

What is the codec in use? H264 rtsp

How many devices are you streaming to at one time? one

You can find the device on the following link.

Do you have "Drop Broadcast and Multicast" enabled on the Virtual AP that you are broadcasting on?

Is the wireless component of the encoder active?

How far apart from the AP is the client and what is the transmit power of the AP(s)?

    Hi,

Do you have "Drop Broadcast and Multicast" enabled on the Virtual AP that you are broadcasting on? No

Is the wireless component of the encoder active? Yes, we can connect to the SSID and the stream is ok while we don't roam. When we roam, (I see in the show user-table output) the stream stoped.

How far apart from the AP is the client and what is the transmit power of the AP(s)?

The APs in two different room and We tried with different transmit power (2,4 GHz 6-9, 3-6). there is 10% overlapping but not too many.

And the client a lot of time don't want to roam despite of the client is can't reach the home AP.

With laptop the roaming is perfect.

I think problem is with this wifi encoder (for example wrong implementation)

Did you ping the device during the roam to see if connectivity drops?

Yes, we run ping, fping, see the stream or only one of these.

With laptop we see some pocket drops with fping when roam but it runs away. But this encoder don't want to roam no way.
