    Hello,

running here AirWave 7.4.8. Some Floors shows up th red alert specified in subject of this thread.

I know release 7.5.6 has fixed one problem with this. But I cannot find information how this mechanism works.

How can VisualRF know that there are APs in the wrong location, based on which information?

On the other hand how APs should be deployed to avoid placing them in the wrong location?

    Regards,

    Tobias Hachmer

    See: http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/AirWave/Ap-in-VRF-marked-RED/td-p/59934

    Main take-away from that post:

"The temporary solution is to uncheck 'AP Location' highlighting from the APs preference settings.

This issue is isolated to only VisualRF processed data, so no changes around the AMP will currently fix this issue, besides hiding the message with the above temporary solution.  This is currently a known defect: DE13741."

    Hello Rob,

thanks for your answer. In release notes of version 7.5.6 there is another issue related to this: DE10875

    Same or different?

Btw. where can I find detailed information about how the location mechanism works exactly in AirWave VisualRF?

    Regards,

DE10875 is a duplicate (it was filed for a similar issue but had less data).

There's not much documented about the location mechanisms.  Ultimately, there's 2 different location mechanisms at work in VRF.

The AP Location mechanism relies on AP to AP data only.  If the location is off by 1 meter, then the AP will be lit red if the AP location feature is enabled.

Client Location starts with AP placement, then uses signal strength and AP neighbor data to pinpoint the clients.
