client gets an ip fine and the logon role, but when he accesses a website the redirect to captive portal fails ending at http:/// (3 slashes) with the error Invalid Address in internet explorer 8.

using the default certifcate (i know it should be changed, but that is for later, which is valid till 2013).

when using http instead of https it works.

    any clue?

Is that the ONLY client that does that, or other clients like an ipad, mobile phone do the same thing?

When did this start happening, or was it always happening?

I was seeing this behavior too just today.    My details are below for reference.     I found the issue to be that the AP system profile had the Corporate DNS Domain name set to the internal domain.  When I removed this, the captive portal came up fine.

    - New setup with a Guest SSID in split-tunnel mode on a RAP

    - When setting the SSID in split-tunnel mode, i get the same error as original post

    - When setting the SSID in tunnel mode, all works fine

    - Confirmed that settting the Captive Portal to HTTP works fine

    - Code is 6.1.3.1

im running older code, 5.0.2.x something i believe, but am using split tunnel so ill check that out also.

when it started happening is a little vague, it suposed to have worked fine, but the details are a bit conflicting.

Corporate DNS Domain is set to arubanetworks.com, is that the default or such?

Not sure if you are still dealing with this; but.......the default is nothing in the corporate DNS.   Have you tried removing it?   I don't know if it will do anything, but in my particular instance mentioned above, removing all entries solved my issue.

without it in the list it doesn't work either.

it seems that something fails with resolving securelogin.arubanetworks.com, i can't imagine i need to add that to our local DNS servers right?

If anyone of you please open a TAC ticket, it will be easy to find out root cause.
