Our students are initialy setup in Edir with a default password - it's set to expire once they successfully login and they are prompted to change it. If the user does not use the Novell client and initally tries to authenticate with their mobile device, I would assume that he or she will not be prompted to change their password and the next time that they try to authenticate, it will fail (I'm assuming here...)

We plan and deploying this soon and we're thinking LDAP auth via captive portal. Just wondering if there are other left out there that are a Novell/Suse shop that may be able to help with this...

    Thanks.

The Novell Client supports methods and an interface to detect and support mandatory password changes.  Captive Portal and 802.1x do not.  You probably need to have your users login using the Novell Client first and then with the client for all password changes, unfortunately.

This brings up another thought: a user connects to the wireless network with a password that has expired but they are successful because there is still a grace period. They go and right click the red N and are warned that their password has expired. They change it. What happens to the connection to the wireless network? Is is good until they need to re-connect or will it disonnect after a few minutes?

    Thanks.

They should stay on until the next time to authenticate.
