    Hi everyone,

I have just read the article : (https://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Controller-Based-WLANs/How-an-Aruba-campus-AP-discovers-its-master-controller/ta-p/238985)

And I was asking myself how does this works when having multiple controller versions on the same vlan.

    For example:

If I have a master controller on 6.3 and another on 6.5 and I try to connect APs 105 (wich support both version).

I assume having DHCP configured redirecting AP to the 6.3 Master controller.

How can I redirect them to the 6.3 controller or the 6.5 ?

You would have to turn of ADP on the controller that you do not want devices attaching to.

    Thanks for the quick reply

If I disable ADP on the controller no AP would attach it isn't it ?

But what can I do if I want controllers to share the APs ? (With DHCP discovery)

I'm basing myself on the diagramm below and cannot understand how to have multiple controller when DHCP is configured because option 43 will always redirect to the same one.

Why are you running two different versions of ArubaOS on the same layer 2 VLAN?

Due to the slow buying procedure, we still have AP 61 wich are blocked on 6.3 AOS and also have AP 205 wich support AOS > 6.3 only.

Because of this we have 2 controllers with different AOS version.

We keep them on same layer 2 Vlan since we need users to roam

    between controller.

Maybe that's not the perfect strategy so any advice on this point is warmly accepted.

    Regards

You will probably have to turn of ADP on both controllers.  Turn it on whichever controller you want to add access points to and then turn it off when you are done.

Not graceful, but you could manually configure a master into the AP via console.
