license on mm and mc

hi.

We are about to run aruba VIA as our Remote VPN.

We are gonna run this setup with 2 x 7205 and a VMM.

My q is, with the VMM-500 license can you install 2 x VMM with that? is there any issues running only 1 x VMM, what happens when the VMM goes down or is upgrading? the license on the 7205 is controller bound PEF license.

Re: license on mm and mc

Hi,

1) Yes you can install two VMM with 1 VMM-500 license

2) If you go with 1 VMM, then in case this VMM fails or reboots, you will lose the centralized configuration capability from VMM. The 7205 will work though. Usually, it is recommended to have two VMM for redundancy purposes.

3) You will migrate the licenses from your 7205 controller to MM (it will act as the centralized licensing server)

with the VMM-500 license can you install 2 x VMM with that? Yes, you can share license in the global license pool

is there any issues running only 1 x VMM, what happens when the VMM goes down or is upgrading?

The MCs will continue to function. But you will lose these functionalities :
- management ( no changes to the MCs)

- difficult adding new APs ( need some configuration)
- centralized licensing
- Airgroup
- UCC
- Airmatch
