    Scenario:

    Master/Local environment

    Master is a M3

    3 Locals, all 7240's

2 of the 3 7200's(Local1 and Local2) have AP bootstrapped to them

the 3rd 7200(Local3) is a Backup LMS for the other two locals

    Task:

Customer wants to decomission the M3 and make the backup local(Local3) the new master controller while continuing to be the backup LMS.

What is the quickest way to accomplish this with no to little down time?

    Thanks

    David

First question is how are your APs discovering your controllers during the boot process?  DHCP , DNS, ADP ?

    - The best thing to do is add the 3rd one(7200) as Standby Master to the Master (M3) using VRRP that is in case both are in the same VLAN ?

    - Then change the priority in the VRRP to be higher on the Standby master .

Note: Make sure all controllers are in the same AOS code

    discovery is done through DNS

all controllers are on the same managent vlan and all are on the same AOS

You VRRP IP address should point to the aruba-master
