    i have an existing network with 105 ap's and 205 ap's

the virtual controller sits on one of the 105's

    it's firmware is 6.4.4.8-4.2.4.9_61734

i've added some new 303 ap's. they are connected to the network, and even if i try to do https web access to one of them, i'm immediatly redirected to the main ap, which is fine. but i can't see them in the ap list, none of the new ones. maybe a compatibility issue with old and new?

    thank you

I believe the lowest version of firmware on the 303 is

The firmware version have to match before they can join the VC.

yeah, the 105 firmware is quite old

maybe i can move the management to one of the 205 and upgrade it further? will it help me "raise" the cluster's highest firmware?

The issue is that the AP303 requires a minimum firmware Aruba InstantOS 8.3.0.0. The IAP105 will only support up to Instant 4.2 and IAP205 in your network will not support anything higher then Instant 6.5.

You would need to either replace all of the 105/205 or have separate clusters where the IAP105/IAP205 do not mix with the AP303.

oh i see. so actually in an existing cluster of 105 and 205, there is no way for me to combine ap303? i have to setup a new separate cluster?

That is correct, due to the minimum firmware/maximum firmware supported of the IAP models.

    thank you

and what if the ap303 is the "leader" of the cluster? will it not change anything? the 105 and 205 is too low for him to manage?

It will not make a difference due to the firmware versions. In order for a IAP Cluster to be formed all IAPs must be on the same firmware version.
