    Hi, can Aruba 7000 and 7200 Mobility Controller run as Mobility Controller and SD-WAN gateway at the same time?

    It's either controller or gateway. If you use it as SD-WAN gateway you need to have your APs as Central managed IAPs. Currently theres some limit as how large IAP cluster you can have (128?) but with AOS10 you can have as large clusters as you wish

    An Mobility Controller 9000/7000/7200 can run in two modes "Campus Mode" or "SD-Branch Mode" both modes have there own firmware and can't run on the same controller in the same time. For SD-Branch you will need a Aruba Central subscription. All 9000/7000/7200 can be run in Branch Gateway Mode, the 7000/7200 can run in Headend Gateway mode (VPN Concentrator) but the 7000 is limited supported for this mode.

    Is there any changes on this one currently?
    I heard about that all models can operate all features based on license. Is that right?

    Do we really need branch gateway for dynamic segmentation in both centralized overlay and distributed fabric overlay deployments?

    When in gateway mode, managed by Central, all that is required is the Central subscription. There is no separate local licensing.
    When in controller mode, managed by Airwave, Local, Mobility Conductor, you will need licenses on the controller or for the controller on your Mobility conductor.

    This has not changed.

    For centralized overlay, you can use either option. For distributed fabric overlay, the gateway is needed if you want to do stateful firewalling and/or traffic inspection/visibility.

    Please work with your Aruba partner, or local Aruba Sales Team to discuss your use-case and find the optimal solution in your situation.
