Add Aruba 505 APs to a 7210 Wcontroller.

    We are fairily new to Aruba.

    just got a new 7210 controller and a lot of 505 radios (200). We start the controller fine, but it wont find any of the APs and they just start their virtual controller.

    Anyone ever paired these APs with a 7210 controller?

    any idea what would be the correct approach?

    There is multiple reasons why this could fail, do you have some more information on your environment? I'd check in the first case that the controller is on the correct firmware that is supported by the AP-505 which is at a minimum 8.6.x. Also check the following:

    - Do you have sufficient licenses?
    - Is CPSEC blocking the APs?
    - Do you have a controller discovery mechanism in place?
    - Is this a new set up or a existing set up?

    There is no issues with AP-505 connecting to a 7210 controller.

    Hello Craig, thanks for the answer.

    Let me check your questions:
    - Do you have sufficient licenses?
    -> Yes, 200 atm.
    - Is CPSEC blocking the APs?
    -> Honestly I have no clue. I need to educate myself on that.
    - Do you have a controller discovery mechanism in place?
    -> Both the controller and the APs are out of the box, no configuration done in either othen than set up their IPs
    - Is this a new set up or a existing set up?
    -> Brand new

    Seems like the controller was setup as master, not standalone.

    That would explain a lot.

    We will reset it and set it up again

    If this is a new setup, and you don't have any experience, it may be good to request assistance from your Aruba partner. There is a 5-day training that covers many scenarios, and how to properly design it (and license). If you don't have that, it's likely that you will spend a lot of time where an experienced engineer can set it up in hours rather days or weeks.

    Here is a video series, if you really want to get started and do it yourself.

    Oh for sure, this would be the best option. We like to try it our ourselves because on our company, this things get relegated to us eventually, but calling the sales partnes would be the best action.

    If we can't advance on our own, we will do that for sure.

    I get the same issue with this Ap-505, Different AP model work fine, but Ap-505 have this issue.

    Controler was setup as Master so It didn't pick up any APs.

    We reset it and set it to Standalone and it worked imediately.
