    Hello all,

Is it possible to use Aruba BLE beacons without Meridian?

We have a customer that wants to use a third part app and only use the Aruba beacons for proximity for classroom registration. Basically when they are in a particular classrooms the student uses an app to register their attendance. Their app will know the location of the student based MAC address of the BLE radio in the AP and register them as attended.

    Hi JasT,

The technical answer is 'yes' Aruba Tags could be heard by nearby AP or from Aruba or other vendor.

With the arrival of AOS 8.4+, there is an IoT feed that gather Aruba and non Aruba BLE signals and allow 3rd party apps to read this IoT feed and use the related datas.

Another possible solution is to use a BLE enable device to scan nearby BLE signals and find out wich is belong to Aruba tags and send it to the cloud or where ever you want it...

Briefly, there is a lot's of use cases and scenarios... a lots of them do require a good analysis and a bunch of R&D...

Did you're client already have this apps or he want to hire someone to build it ?
