    Hey all

    Upgrading all my old switches to new Aruba switches.  Having issues with 10GB uplinks.  6100 to 6300M no link but 6100 to Cisco 3750 works.  I have tried many transceivers and multiple switch ports on the 6100 and 6300. Using the same pair of fiber between the two locations.

    Network topology is 2 6300M in VSF stack with DAC cables for ToR.  Currently all my access switches are Cisco 3750 and working but will be replace by Aruba 6100 when I can get an uplink to work.

    Any insight would be appreciated.  I am new to Aruba

    Hi Jay,

    Is there same problem if you make connection between 6300-6100 in same room using proper patch cable?

    Port configuration seems to be fine for me. Is there any comments about those ports in logs ("sh logging -r")?

    Did you connect 3750 to 6100 over same fiber path you try to use now? Can you check that fiber is really what you expect it to be by using visible led light (sorry I dont know what is real name for this special lamp connecting to fiber showing human visible light)

    I am unable to test a direct connection with a patch.  The devices are 75m apart.  I will get another 6100 configured and try with just a patch.  

    I have 3 pairs of fiber to this switch closet and they all work 6100 to 3750 but not 6100 to 6300.

    The 6100 is currently connected to the 3750 which is connected to the 6300.  Had to leave it this way because the office is in another state and I only had two days to install this portion of the upgrade.

    Nothing in the logs other than when I inserted the module on 8/23/2022.  Multiple inserts because I tried multiple transceivers.

    Aa okay you had 3750 in same MDF with 6300 and you tested already that physical fibers are ok.

    I'm not completely familiar with 6300 (because it's so hard to get those to projects at this time :D) but I don't see any weird configurations there?!?

    Is there anything interesting in 6300 logs about connecting port? Possibly spanning tree blocking etc...?!?

    How about lldp, when 6300-6100 is connected... I suppose "sho lldp neigh" don't tell you anything either?

    The 6300 has a couple additional lines at the beginning of the logs.  After these two line it is all the same as the 6100, me swapping modules.

    You are correct on the lldp. Only shows the Cisco and my UBNT APs. On the 6300 lldp shows the Cisco and ESXi hosts.

    SVLAN is Q in Q concept, where service providers use one more VLAN tag on top of your data packet. 
    Please check Q in Q feature on A0S-CX switch and ask your service provider if they are sending packets for which service vlan

    Hi Jay,

    can you show us the config of the cisco interface where the connection to the 6100 is working or had worked and which transceiver is used in the cisco switch?

    As you are using SR SFP, you have multimode patchpanels, am i right? OM2 (~80m 10G) may be working, but OM3 (~300m 10G) would be even better. If I am right there some "enhanced" SR SFP, which support longer distances, but of course these has to be used on both sides.

    Did you try to change RX and TX on one side when connecting 6100 to 6300? Maybe the Cisco Switch/SFP can automatically switch that, but Aruba not.

    And last, as Gaurang311 mentioned the svlan...
    My 6100, 6200F, 8325, 8360 do not have the svlan option. I do not have 6300M. And I'm using 10.09.1040, Maybe svlan comes only with 10.10.xxxx. Which Software do you use on the Aruba switches?
    Do you have configured any vlan in the vlan trunk allowed list as a svlan? (svlan (arubanetworks.com))
    Are the fiber connections "dark fiber" (direct fiber from you) or are they from an service provider? I really can't believe that this is the case for a 75m connection...
