    Dear Experts,

One of the customers want to convert some of 6300M ports from 2500 to 1000 Mbps. But they are not able to do so. I checked the community and found this post which is a year ago. Can someone highlight if its a bug or intended feature? why we can convert 2500 Mbps to 1000 Mbps?

    Hi Owais,

Could you share with us the exact model number of 6300M switch and the port number you want to set to 1Gbps?

    Dear Ivan,

Switch is JL660A. Port number I am not sure but can you help just knowing the switch model. But I am sure they are not confusing uplinks with access ports.

Those are copper ports and should support 1G:  "24x ports SmartRate 100M/1G/2.5G/5G BASE-T Class 6 PoE ports supporting up to 60W per port"

Could you share the error you see and output from 'speed ?' and 'speed auto ?' commands from the context of port 23 or 24?

    If this is the error:

    SW(config)# interface 1/1/1
    SW(config-if)# speed 1000-full
1000-full is not supported by this interface

then instead of 'speed 1000-full' try 'speed auto 1000-full'.

    Dear Ivan,

Below is the snapshot, do you still recommend going with speed auto 1000-full?

Yes, I still insist on my recommendation. According to IEEE 802.3ab autonegotiation is a requirement for using 1000BASE-T according to
"Section 28D.5 Extensions required for Clause40 (1000BASE-T)", therefore you need to use 'speed auto 1000-full'.
