Hi,
Speaking about a distance longer than 10 km (and up to 40 km) the entire Aruba 8320 switch series (including the SKU JL479A) supports the Aruba 40G QSFP+ LC ER4 40 km SMF Transceiver (SKU Q9G82A) connected to a standard 9/125 um (No FEC) Single Mode Fiber Optic cable for up to 30 km only, to reach the 40 km distance a 9/125 um FEC (Forward Error Correction) is required on both ends of the engineered link.
Up to 40 km of a (engineered) link at 10G speed instead can be served by using J9153A or J9153D SFP+ LC ER Transceivers on the SKU JL479A Switch.
This is what is reported looking at latest Aruba AOS-Switch and AOS-CX Transceivers Guide (Edition 12).

Subject: 8320-JL479A ZR Module usage
All,
We are looking at implementing some JL479A (8320) and JL661A (6300M) switches. Some of our fiber connections are greater than 40km. Do these models of switch support 10/40g ZR modules for the 8320 and 10g ZR modules for the 6300M?
Thanks in advance!
~Ben
