AP Load Balancing in a Cluster

    Hello experts,

Trying to understanding how the AP is load balanced in a Cluster. We have 2x7240 and 1x7210 in our Main cluster.

We have never seen our cluster AP count 'balanced' on both 8.10 and now 8.12.

Curious if the smaller controller is causing the uneven AP distribution or if there is some other configs we missed out.

    Thanks,

    Alex

It looks like you haven't met the 20% threshold to rebalance the APs across the cluster because of the 7240XM capacity (#s are found in the datasheets, 20% of the number needs hit before a rebalance will trigger). To see it "balance", you'd need to lower the threshold even further, but you don't need to do this. You're not even at 20% capacity.

How it works is documented here: https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/ArubaOS_8.12.0_Web_Help/Content/arubaos-solutions/cluster/clus-load-bala.htm

    Hi,

APs and Clients will not be balanced equally because you have Aruba 7210 controller in your cluster and its capacity is less comparing to 7240XM. please watch this advanced-clustering-in-aos-8x.

this webinar explains everything that you need to know.
