AP325s and AP615s unable to be on the same controller?

We recently purchased AP615s to upgrade a building and need to upgrade to AOS 8.11 or higher in order to use these AP's on our 7210 series controllers.  However, we have a large number of AP325s deployed and the release notes for AOS 8.11.0 and 8.11.0.1 list the AP325s as being "Deprecated APs." not supported by AOS 8.11.0.  Since we cannot afford to replace the AP325s at this time it would appear that we have no options to deploy the new AP615s.  I have not found any documentation indicating that the AP325s have been made "end of life" by Aruba, yet for some reason they have been "deprecated" with the release of AOS 8.11.0.  Does anyone know of any solutions to this problem and does anyone else have this combination of APs in their environment?

    Thanks

They are "parked" on the 8.10 Long Supported Release.
I would leave your existing controllers on the current version and stand up a 8.11 controller for your new 6.x.x APs.  If you have a sales person, I would consult them to navigate your current specific situation successfully.

I appreciate your reply.  I have raised the issue with my sales rep and SE and both of them were surprised by this issue.  Because we are a very small IT department with limited resources, running a third controller with a different OS installed just to be able to run two different models of access points is not a very appealing option.  I feel like HPE / Aruba is putting customers in a bad situation with this incompatibility they have created.

I want to say that my suggestion is just an idea and your Sales Team would be the best people to understand your business and propose the correct solution.

With regards to the incompatibility, the AP-325 came out in 2015, which is an eternity in terms of product support in the wireless/networking business: https://community.arubanetworks.com/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?MID=45427#bmcde1fdd8-84df-48ca-afde-8854fbd42925

With that being said, please lean on your sales team to fix this.

Mayby to late; or a cost issue, but omit 615, and go for 635/655, and you can stay on 8.10; 4-5 more years.

With 615 you need more radio planning, hence the fact of only two radios, and some frequency issues.

    Spectrum Analysis Support for AP-615
    • The Spectrum Analysis feature is not supported on AP-615 access points.
    UNII-4 Channel Support for AP-615
    • AP-615 access points do not support UNII-4 channel.

Hmm, I was aware that our AP-215s were going to be unsupported, and we need to replace them before going to Aruba 10 from Aruba 8, but was not aware that AP-315s were also an issue. As you noted, I don't see EOL info for the AP-315, but maybe I'm looking the wrong spot? I checked here: https://www.arubanetworks.com/support-services/end-of-life/#product=access-points&version=0

They list it as 310 Series APs.

Here is the link for the pdf.

Ah, perhaps it is an oversight? They have the AP-330 series listed as 8.10 max, but AP-300 and AP-310 series are not.

I hope it's not an oversight since we have over 1,100 315s and are just finishing up replacing the 100 series so we can do our next software upgrade..

No oversight, 300 and 310 Series are still supported on 8.x post 8.10
