Apple Device Connection Loss Issues

    Cheers,

I currently have an IAPs Cluster environment and I am experiencing stability problems with the connection of Apple devices, both I-Phones, IPAD, etc.

By connecting to the network they can browse without inconvenience. After a while, these devices cannot browse even when connected to the network. The only way they can navigate again is by turning off the device's WIFI and turning it on again to have a connection. But after a few minutes, they lose internet access.

It seems to indicate that when the device is not in use, the screen turns off, it goes into standby or something like that, the device is still connected to the network but cannot navigate anywhere.

And this scenario does not happen with Android or Windows devices.

    Any help is welcome.

what firmware version are you running on the IAPs
do these devices connect to PSK or dot1x type of WLANs?

Hello again, to provide more information.

I have an SSID, which the VLAN assignment is with a centralized VLAN at layer 2, which uses an IP-SEC tunnel to a VPNC since it is a network only for internet access. This SSID has a bandwidth restriction with no time restriction

    Try disable channels above 64  ( in 5ghz )

    ( Also move from 80mhz to 40mhz )

Update us if the manner is solved.

Ok, I'll do this test and let you know how it goes.

But is there a reason why I should make these changes? Any technical explanation? You went through this situation and making these changes corrected everything?

    Thanks for your support.

Well, after some tests everything points to firewall related issues. I'm still waiting for the Security group to attend to me.

    Thanks for everything.

What firewall related issues did you find?  I am having a similar issues with iPads and I am working with the TSC, but could you please elaborate on this?  I know portal.apple.com has to be let through the firewall / content filter for wireless to work correctly and that has been verified but I am wondering if there are any other requirements?  Thanks.

    Sorry for the delay.
Yes, in the Web Filter section they had to correct some restrictions. They are still finishing work on it, but everything points to that since it only happens to me in that particular VLAN.

Would it be possible to get a list of the URLs / domains / IPs  they had to allow through?  Thanks.

Did you install version 8.11? We've been having similar issues with all devices after the update.

No this cluster is running 8.9.0.2.  Aruba had us turn on "legacy only" mode on the 5Ghz radios and so far the response has been positive but the iPads (school setting) weren't being used yesterday so we probably need another whole day to see if it really improved things.  Speed definitely took a hit as switching that setting on has dropped the 5Ghz radios to 54Mbps.
