I'm having some issues with the voice vlan and QoS on the few Aruba 2930F's that I have.  I have Mitel phones and in the HP 1950 world I'd go into Network > Voice Vlan > OUI Summary and I'd add the MAC for the Mitel phones.  How do I do this in the Aruba 2930F?  I've set the "voice" parameter on the vlan but I think there is something more missing.  I say this because when I plug in a phone, it dies when getting DHCP.  Do I need to do the "device-identity" commands and such?  If so, what's the best way to get the lldp oui as I'm guessing it's not the  08-00-0F-00-00-00 that I put in the MAC OUI summary on the 1950s.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

Yes, HP 1950 and Aruba 2930 are very different. Specifying a VLAN as voice on the 2930 only enables the advertisement of this VLAN as voice VLAN in LLDP-MED packets. It doesn't enable automatic port configuration of this VLAN when a VOIP device is detected.

You can use the device profile as explained here in chapter "Device profiles for automatic port configuration"

    https://higherlogicdownload.s3.amazonaws.com/HPE/MigratedAssets/VoIP_Deployment_on_ArubaOS-Switch.pdf

However keep in mind that the OUI is not the vendor OUI of the source MAC. This should be the OUI which the phone sends in the LLDP packet as an "organization specific TLV, type 127"

Not all vendors have an organization specific TLV

What is shown in this document (lldp oui 0012bb) is the general LLDP MED TLV for the Telecommunication Industries Association TR-41. That means if you use this value all the types of IP phones will be matched, no matter which vendor.

Another option of automatic port assignment based on the MAC address or MAC OUI of the source MAC is the local MAC authentication. https://techhub.hpe.com/eginfolib/networking/docs/switches/RA/15-18/5998-8151_ra_2620_asg/content/ch04.html

Thanks for the reply!  So I would need to do both the "voice" line on the vlan as well as doing the device-profile, etc as shown in https://higherlogicdownload.s3.amazonaws.com/HPE/MigratedAssets/VoIP_Deployment_on_ArubaOS-Switch.pdf

    is that correct?

To answer my own question, it seems like I just needed to do the "voice" option on the vlan.  I figured out I was accidently blocking the voice vlan at an upstream switch.  This was probably the problem.  Allowed the vlan, added in the voice option, and the Mitel phones get an IP on the voice vlan and the PC's attached to the phones are getting IP's on the data vlan.  Thanks for the assist!
