    Hi

I have an issue where a connected 5ghz devices keep connecting to 5g ssid but once a new device came to connect it cannot connect to 5hz network and only 2.4g is connecting. The only work around I found for this issue is to shut and restart the port from the network switch which restart the access point and I can connect new devices. Kindly help me with this issue.

We use Aruba controller 7030 with version OS 8.10.0.8 LSR

    AP-515

connected to cisco c2960x access switch

    Thanks

    Mustafa

    Hi Mustafa,

first of all it is the decission by the Client to which band it is connected. Are those new Clients dual Band clients?
Is Band Steering / Steering Mode enabled?

Can you give an output of
    show ap bss-table ap-name <APNAME>
    show wlan virtual-ap <PROFILENAME>

For more instant responses, please open a TAC case.

I see channel 157E assigned, which may not be compatible with some devices. You may also have set a client limit per AP, but I believe minimum value is 32 clients per AP, which does not explain this on a close-to-empty AP. TAC may be able to check your logs and see what makes clients not connect.

Upgrading to a recent firmware version in general doesn't hurt, but it's just a lucky shot. TAC may suggest to upgrade to a recent version as it fixes other thing and rules out a few things.

    Hi Herman,

Thanks for your reply, I will review our options for upgrading as just recently upgraded to 8.10.0.0.8 LSR.

and I see our only option now is to open TAC case.

    Appreciate your support.

You might want to get that version of code up to 8.10.0.11LSR (mind the firewall opps as well); the reason is that there are a mass load of bug-fixes and kernel crash issues with 8.10.0.7LSR and 8.10.0.8LSR.  Check out the release notes; I think that I counted 16 bug fixes with that one model of AP alone.

I will check the release notes thanks for the heads up. for the mean time we still facing this issue.
