Hi, our customer needs an ArubaOS-CX solution that includes ZTP. Can we configure DCN features such as VXLAN, EVPN, VSX in Aruba Central?
If not, can we still use Netedit if the switches are managed using Aruba Central, so we can still configure those features with Netedit?

    Thank you.

    Hi ,

Aruba Central admit subscriptions of switches 8xxx, 9xxx and 10xxx. I don't have experience adding datacenter switches but VXLAN, EVPN and VSX are on the data sheets:

    https://www.arubanetworks.com/assets/ds/DS_ArubaCentral.pdf

But, I didn´t see the limitations that you can have when you are migrating from netedit or if you need take into account something else.

I hope that this information helps you.

    Hi, thanks for the answer.
Do you know if Netedit works if the switches are deployed into Central?
AFAIK, we cant configure the switch via CLI if its deployed into Central.

    Thank you.

    Hi.

I´m not sure that you can still using Aruba Central (monitor only) and netedit together. I think not, but I recommend contacting a partner because each implementation/migration (specially datacenter) usually involve tricky stuff and special points to take care.

    Regards

Netedit is called MultiEdit in Central:

MultiEdit would be where you manage your configuration for one or multiple (hence the name) AOS-CX switches.

I am using Aruba Central and VXLAN/EVPN/VSX.

I am using the Template groups to do what I want.  The UI groups do not provide the config that you need/want for VXLAN/EVPN (you will see all kinds of references to this in Aruba Marketing but it is all lies/unreleased features/beta/very frustrating).

    https://www.arubanetworks.com/products/network-management-operations/central/netconductor/
^Lies and not a thing until 2.5.6 cluster upgrade.  Even then, you can not use it.  I created a new Aruba Central setup on a upgraded cluster and it was missing.

    https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/central/latest/content/nms/apps/acn/global-client-roles/cfg-client-roles.htm
^This looks like it is required before you can use NetConductor
Global Client Roles support is selectively available. Contact your Aruba Account Manager to enable it in your Aruba Central account.

Client Roles will not show up in Aruba Central even with an upgraded cluster to 2.5.6.

Routing -> Fabrics do not show up even with 8xxx switches in Aruba central (currently)

    Here is another fun one:
    https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/central/2.5.5/content/nms/subscriptions/overview-licensing.htm
Aruba Central does not provide Switch Advanced Licenses.

We were sold on EVPN/VXLAN and Aruba Central.  I was also told by a SE that switch advanced licenses do not exist and would not be needed.

    https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/central/latest/content/nms/subscriptions/overview-licensing.htm

    • Advanced-This license provides all the features included in the Foundation License, with additional feature related to Central NetConductor Fabric.

The old bait and switch tactic...

Fun story - If you spend the money on AP advanced licenses, you may have tons of issues and work with support for 3+ months trying to get your actual advanced licenses.  First you will have a SE tell you that AP foundation is just what it is called (not an issue) and all is well.  Then you will have tons of back and forth between your SE/sales manager/support and still have no resolution.

Not the only license they can sell you that doesnt work either.  The license for R8L06AAE - should be:
Aruba Central 84xx/83xx/64xx/54xx Switch Foundation 5 year Subscription Government E-STU
    https://www.arubanetworks.com/assets/ds/DS_Aruba-Central-for-Government.pdf

I currently do not have any licenses that work for my 8325 switches....

"Few of the Aruba Central clusters have already been upgraded upgraded to 2.5.6"

Can you clarify what you are saying here?

    Hi thanks for the answer!

Just to clarify, do you need to have Netconductor to configure VXLAN/EVPN/VSX on Central? Or is template group enough?

You can setup VXLAN/EVPN/VSX with template groups.  Just make sure you have 6300 or higher switches for evpn and 8000+ switches for VSX.  I believe 6200 switches support static VXLAN but I do not have any 6200 switches, so I am not 100% sure of that.  I currently have 8325 switches and 6300 with template groups and EVPN setup.
