Well, We have DHCP Server for internal devices too but also I have configured a internal Dynamic DNS that accept the updates from our DHCP Servers.
In other locations we have configured the DHCP Server in switches CISCO and they update our Dynamic DNS when the DHCP Server assigns an IP to the DHCP Client but with this Aruba switch don't works.
Regards.

Hi,
I have installed a physical switch 6200F with AOS-CX 10.09.1010 but for tests I have installed two virtual switch with AOS-CX 10.09.1000 and AOS-CX 10.13.1000 versions. I did not know that the Viertual and Physical didn't have the same commands.
@ariyap, do you have configured the DHCP-Server in your switch and it update the DDNS with the IP's and Names of the DHCP Clients?
And works fine?
Regards.

note that CX virtual switch does not support all the command that a physical switch support.
You can ask your AOS-CX Switch Simulator questions in this discussion forum

Hi,
Holger, then, the Virtual Switch and the Physical Switch with the same AOS-CX Version not have the same commands?
@ariyap, do you have configured the DHCP-Server in your switch and it update the DDNS with the IP's and Names of the DHCP Clients?

Our 6200 running CX version 10.13.1000 for sure supports it.
It seems you are running a CX simulator right? in which case it may not be supported.

The command "ip dhcp option host-name" is available since AOS-CX version 10.13.0005 as per documentation on the following AOS-CX platforms:
4100i, 6000, 6100, 6200, 6300, 6400
See also:
https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/AOS-CX/AOSCX-CLI-Bank/cli_6000-6100/Content/Chp_DHCP/DHCP_cli_cmds/ip-dhc-broadcast.htm
I personally verified that on 6100 and 6300 switches with AOS-CX versions 10.13.0005 and 10.13.1010
You are using the virtual switch from the OVA instead.
In addition, AOS-CX version 10.9 is a Short Support Release (SSR) which is already End of Maintenance (EOM) and End of Support (EOST). Therefore is is highly recommended to update to a release which is still under maintenance. As AOS-CX 10.13 is a Long Supported Release (LSR) it is a good choise.

Hi,
We are using Aruba-CX switches with v10.09.1010 firmware versión.
We have tried to configure a DHCP-Server in the switch that assign the IP address to the Clients and update our DDNS Server but We don't get it.
The DHCP-Server of the switch assign the IP addresss to the Clients but it doesn't send anythink to our DDNS.
Our configuratión of the DHCP Server is that:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Aruba-6200#
interface 1/1/7
no shutdown
ip address 192.168.55.10/24
dhcp-server vrf default
pool Pool-UNO
range 192.168.55.125 192.168.55.150 prefix-len 24
option 81 ip 192.168.55.15
domain-name example.org.in
dns-server 192.168.55.15
default-router 192.168.55.10
static-bind ip 192.168.55.155 mac fa:ba:da:fa:ba:da
lease 00:10:00
exit
enable
Aruba-6200#
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Would you tell us if we are missing any command?
Regards

We got answer back from Aruba support via our partner.
Correct it isn't there, expected in Aruba CX 10.13.

Thanks for sharing @ilGino
That command doesn't seem available on Aruba CX (yet).

Hello all,
dont' know about Aruba-CX, but on the Aruba-OS switches (ie the 29xx series) this is possible with the following command:
(config)# dhcp host-name-option
It is in the global config scope, so I suppose it will be used for every DHCP request that the switch starts.
Hope the Aruba-CX have something similar.

We are using Aruba-CX switches (relatively new firmware, 10.11) and have the mgmt interface set to do DHCP.
This works fine but we get an issue because on the DHCP server we also do dynamic DNS registration. And there it seems the Aruba-CX switch sends its "default" hostname myhost-xx-xx-xx-xx and not the one configured and shown on the prompt when you log in.
Anyone encountered this also? Any possible solution on the Aruba-CX side without changing to fixed IP or such?
