    Hello

I bought a pair of IAP-315 off eBay (from the Aruba refurb store) a few years back. around that time we did an Aruba refresh at couple locations at work. (form IAP225 to IAP315)

My boss signed off on about 12 of those device to go to us :), I got two of them.

however I am just getting into looking at them at home a year + later.

plugged it in an the IAP-215 upgraded to 8.6.0.18

my IAP-315 are the 8.9.0.2 (it auto upgraded to this)

is it not possible for them to Cluster?

Is it possible for them to MESH ? I would really like the 225 to cover some low signal area in my house without running new cables.

I assume the version mismatch is the issue

if that is the case can this ever work? do they have repeater mode?

you need the APs to be on the same firmware to join the instant cluster.

You can downgrade both the 225 and 315's to the 8.6.0.2 factory image, then form a cluster of all of them, and from there use the 'in product upgrade' to get to the latest 8.6 version.

For the downgrade, make sure that you have a cluster of only 225s or only 315s (power off the other APs), then when all are on the same version you can join them together. If you have access to the Aruba Support Portal with an active support contract, you can go to the latest 8.6 release immediately.
