    This is possible by using the EnOcean and EnOcean Alliance member devices, there are approximately 5000 different sensors and controllers that can be used to create the hyper-aware building.   majority of these do not require batteries and instead charge themselves using the lights in the building or using power from motion (such as pressing a light switch)
