First, sorry if i posted this on the wrong section,
my last post was several years ago when it's still in HP forum.
I am trying to resimplify my question.. the previous one is a headache :)
L3-SW vlan interface (72) : 192.168.72.253 ( JE006A )
management vlan1 : 192.168.10.253
dhcp server vlan interface (1) : 192.168.10.252.
i can see relay dhcp requests coming from various vlan, only when the dhcp server directly attached to it.
( in this case, a dhcp vm server inside a host which directly connected with ethernet to one of L3 ports ).
packet capture on dhcp server shows that bootp requests coming from 192.168.72.253 ( vlan 72 ),
and the dhcp server will reply via to L3 switch.. then the dhcp clients got their ip addresses.
IP 192.168.72.253.bootps > 192.168.10.252.bootps: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from <clientmacaddr>
But then this same dhcp server (vm) , when moved to another host, behind one Layer 2 switch ( J9979 )
the packet capture on dhcp server i got is just this :
IP 0.0.0.0.bootpc > 255.255.255.255.bootps: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from <clientmacaddress>.
and the client never got any ip served from dhcp. The L3 switch dhcp relay doesn't seem to work on this layout.
Am i missing something ?
I have checked many times that all trunk port are correctly assigned with vlan72, with untagged vlan1.
