    Hi all!

    I'm trying a fresh install of the latest HPE IMC 7.3 E0710 Enterprise application on a Linux system (CentOS 7.9.2009 with MySQL 5.7.44 Community Edition) but, after executing the install wizard (./install.sh) and seeing that it has correctly verified the local database connectivity, the wizard stops at the "Checking installation environments" phase due to the particular "Check OS: Not Passed. /etc/hosts contains no map of hostname and 127.0.0.1", see below:

    The strange thing is that, apart having disabled the IPv6 system-wide, the configuration looks quite normal:

    [root@imc ~]# cat /etc/centos-release
    CentOS Linux release 7.9.2009 (Core)

    [root@imc ~]# cat /etc/hosts
    127.0.0.1   localhost localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4
    ::1         localhost localhost.localdomain localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6

    [root@imc ~]# cat /etc/hostname
    imc

    [root@imc ~]# hostnamectl
       Static hostname: imc
             Icon name: computer-vm
               Chassis: vm
            Machine ID: 367ead690ac9491191abb3e805b121d9
               Boot ID: e60c3dca325147918befd8bac5bb5eef
        Virtualization: vmware
      Operating System: CentOS Linux 7 (Core)
           CPE OS Name: cpe:/o:centos:centos:7
                Kernel: Linux 3.10.0-1160.114.2.el7.x86_64
          Architecture: x86-64

    [root@imc ~]# hostname
    imc

    I'm not able to understand how overcome this issue by letting the install wizard to pass that particular check.

    To me the system's hostname configuration looks pretty normal (I tried every possible combination, whatever I do it doesn't change that check).

    The outcome doesn't change also if I configure, as I usually do, the /etc/hosts in this way:

    [root@imc ~]# cat /etc/hosts
    127.0.0.1   localhost localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4
    ::1         localhost localhost.localdomain localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6
    10.255.249.1 imc.datafarm.local imc

    I add that DNS resolution against our internal Name Servers works as expected (it shouldn't be necessary for the sake of that particular check).

    Any idea? Thanks!

    Hi Paola, I see.

    I forgot that the CentOS 7.9 is still admitted as *a supported* Guest OS for the HPE IMC 7.3 E0710 *only if* the E0710 release is reached *through" an update (from previous E0708 release), not when a new install is performed.

    Luckily the CentOS 7.9 is supported in case of HPE IMC 7.3 E0708 release new install.

    I then followed this path and the HPE IMC Install Wizard's pre-install checks passed without any issue and the install finished successfully (I understood that the install script is engineered to fetch any /etc/*release file to guess what OS is the system running on...and the E0710 install procedure, compared to the E0708 one, fails if the old beloved CentOS is found).

    I'll perform the update E0708 -> E0708 latest Patch -> E0710 or E0708 -> E0710 directly...in any case, if successful, I'm going to update the E0710 to its latest released patch.

    I really appreciated you help!

    Davide.

    The entire update path - HPE IMC 7.3 E0708 GA -> E0708P03 -> E0710 GA -> E0710P03 - was successful so I can confirm that if CentOS 7.9 OS is needed as the Base OS on which to (re)deploy a recent version of HPE IMC 7.3 then, at maximum, the HPE IMC 7.3 E0708 must be used for start with a fresh install (following updates are all permitted, at least up to latest E0710P03 software release).
