    IRF Setting Command

I have a question regarding the commands for the HPE 5710 48XGT 6QSFP+ switch.

I know that an older different model switch has the following command settings

    irf-mode normal

as the HPE 5710 switch does not have this command,
Can you please tell me which HPE 5710 command corresponds to irf-mode normal?

I have checked the command reference guide.(following URL)

    https://internal.support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=a00078536en_us

I also checked the contents of the following URL

    https://techhub.hpe.com/eginfolib/networking/docs/switches/7500/5200-1955a_virtualtch_cg/content/495502776.htm

    Best regards,

    Hi @Account1,

the irf-mode allowed switching between "normal" and "advanced" mode.

The difference of both modes is to allow different Chassis inside one Switch-Stack-Framework. This command was in particular interesting for Switches with ComwareOS v5 and ComwareOS v7.00. Here you had options to join the 5800 and 5820 switches via enhanced mode, and also 5820 with 5820X models. In normal mode those stacks wouldn't have happened.

Enhanced mode has also some drawbacks. You can't have L3-(Sub)Interfaces on the stack.

I still always run enhanced (don't know why)

    Best of wishes to you
