    Hello,

I am trying t see if there is an updated bootrom for HP 5700 (JG898A) switches. This is where I am searching and it doesn't show anything available. https://asp.arubanetworks.com/

Does anyone know if available? The current software upgrade P06 requires bootrom Rev. 157 and we have Rev. 147

Hi, if you download and use the .IPE file it includes the boot file as well as the system file. The release notes have the full details of this:

As long as the upgrade path is compatible (see release notes) then you will update both components as required. I have never independently upgraded a bootrom image in a decade of using comware.

Hi Ian and Thanks for Responding. As I look at this doc https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00005966en_us, the confusing part is it says version 156 or higher. So my assumption was I needed 156 before I could upgrade the code. I want to put the latest on these switches. I am also assuming based on the date that P61 is latest vs P06.  (why wouldn't it be P06.1 or P07?)

Hi, there is something strange about comware releases in the last year. For the 5900 which I have a lot of there was nothing since about 2018 then a release more recently. I read this as they were no longer developing but then had a serious security fix. It looks the same for your 5700:

    5700_7.10.R2432P61     Released on Mar 6, 2023

    5700_7.10.R2432P06     Released on Jul 2, 2018

I found a useful paragraph that clarifies that there is a boot ROM file and a boot bin file. It does say they all come in the IPE file. I think this is why I've never upgraded the boot ROM before. In reality I have, I just didn't watch the screen for the upgrades as it takes so long and for some upgrades it will have sorted the ROM image too.

    https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/comware/RN/HPE5700CMW710R2432P61RN.pdf

This is further confirmed with the text:

The system automatically checks the compatibility of the Boot ROM image and the boot and system
images during the reboot. If you are prompted that the Boot ROM image in the upgrade image file is
different than the current Boot ROM image, upgrade both the basic and extended sections of the
Boot ROM image for compatibility. If you choose to not upgrade the Boot ROM image, the system
will ask for an upgrade at the next reboot performed by powering on the switch or rebooting from the
CLI (promptly or as scheduled). If you fail to make any choice in the required time, the system
upgrades the entire Boot ROM image.

So in short, if you upgrade using the IPE file and don't interrupt it will automatically upgrade the boot ROM.

Latest version is P61 with the release notes here:
