I agree with Arne, dont think ESX or EVE is the issue.
I use ESXi 6.7U3 with latest AOS_CX simulator 10.13.0005.

I don't have this problem on EVE-NG, so I don't think it's the simulator. Just check your interfaces and connections to verfy you have it right.
