    Greetings everyone,

Kindly advise how to troubleshoot the issue of not being able to add new outdoor AP 575 to 7200 controller. We could add new 555 series indoor to same controller.

    Below is the product details.

Aruba 570 series have minimum operating system software ArubaOS & Aruba InstantOS 8.7.0.0 whereas for the Aruba 550 series the datasheet says ArubaOS and Aruba InstantOS 8.5.0.0 (with some restrictions). For unrestricted operation, use 8.6.0.0 or later.
If you have AOS version lower than 8.7.0.0 then the controller has to upgraded in order to support the 575.

    Thanks.
Will the upgrade of OS  to 8.7 version impact or cause the existing wireless access points connected to controller from older series like 300, 515,555 to go offline or will the upgrade be zero downtime process?

    Pls advise

    Hello,

The upgrade requires a reboot of the controller and of the APs which will be offline in that time. So it is not a zero downtime process and a maintenance window has to be scheduled.
You mentioned Aruba 7220 so I am assuming this is a standalone controller and not an MM/MD architecture?

With MM/MD  and cluster you can do a Cluster Live Upgrade which lets different controllers and APs in the cluster reboot at different times and makes sure that the WLAN coverage remains unaffected. More details here.
    https://blogs.arubanetworks.com/industries/aos-8-1-cluster-live-upgrade/

But if the controller is standalone then controller and APs have to reboot at the same time and there will be downtime. Please for more details on the upgrade procedure check the release notes. Here the release notes of the latest 8.7.x release 8.7.1.10.
