    I have an AP-335 currently running ArubaInstant_Lupus_6.5.4.0_60834.  I would like to upgrade it to ArubaInstant_Lupus_8.3.0.17_81715 but I get the following error when I try to do that. Any pointers?

    your AP-335 is controller based AP right?, you need to have a controller to convert the APs to Instant mode

    You need to upgrade boot loader on AP. You need to contact TAC for help on this.
