    Hi there,

    I´m new to the CX-Series switches and need some advice please.

    What is the best way to view configbackup-Files of CX6000 Series switches?

    On the older Series (2530, 2920, etc.) we used a simple notepad to view the configuration files. We used this files as a part of our documentation and in case a switch was not able to boot anymore, we were able to set up a new switch from a different series by configuring it by hand along to the existing backup-file.

    Or is this no longer best practice? I heard of the AOS-CX Switch simulator? Is this simulator able to emulate the web-GUI of a switch? So we could load config-files into this simulator...? Or is there a (free) management software (not cloud based) to manage CX switches and view configurations of offline devices?

    kind regards
    Sebastian

    I would suggest using Aruba NetEdit software. This will take snapshots of the switch configuration, and you will be able to see it even if the switch goes offline. You could try it out for free with the trial licenses.

    I´m using Notepad++ with keyword highlighting:

    Notepad++ user language with keywords highlight for Aruba cfg files | Controllerless Networks (arubanetworks.com)

    Hi Martin,

    this works with the ".pcc" config-backup files from the older switches but not for the config-backups of the CX-Series. Or is it possible to export config-files in that old format from the CX-Series switches?

    kind regards und viele Grüße

    I use this command to view my previously backed up checkpoints
    =============
    P3# sh checkpoint

    And this to view contents of the checkpoints
    =============
    P3# sh checkpoint Jul5_2022

    Checkpoint configuration:
    !
    !Version ArubaOS-CX LL.10.09.1020
    !export-password: default
    hostname P3
    ! snip

    Yes, you can web GUI into the AOS-CX Switch simulator, here is the URL to the simulator
