Virtual Appliances on Proxmox/KVM or XCP-NG/XEN

Hopefully I am putting this in the right topic/community
We are currently evaluating alternatives to VMWare due to the recent merger and I'm sure we are not the only ones.

I have noticed that KVM is supported for the Mobility Conductor Virtual Appliance and Clearpass Virtual Appliance but only if the version of KVM is running on Ubuntu or CentOS.

The two hypervisor platforms we are evaluating are Proxmox (KVM Based) and XCP-NG (XEN Based)

I understand that installation support on these will be limited, but I wanted to see if we would be able to get any support in general, or will we be told No, you are running a unsupported Hypervisor and we can not help you with any issues in the Clearpass/Mobility Conductor software at all.

I am also curious if anyone else has installed on these platforms and what there experience has been as well as if there is news of official support for them in the future seeing as a lot of people are jumping ship from VMWare due to price hikes.

Sorry if someone else has asked this already, I did a quick skim search but was unable to find anything.

Future support for new hypervisor platforms would be roadmap, and roadmap cannot be discussed in public forums. Please contact your local Aruba Sales teams if you have questions around that, or (through your partner) open a request on the Aruba Innovation Zone (please first search if there is not an existing request yet for the same).

I don't know XCP-NG, but don't think there are Xen VMs of either ClearPass or Mobility Conductor. For Proxmox, I've heard customers who ran ClearPass on it, some with success, others with problems or very poor performance or instablility. The risk, as you mention, is that you get support refused, which I have seen in cases of instability or performance issues. But the risk alone is something you would need to think really carefully about, and using a hardware appliance or setup a supported hypervisor for this purpose may be a more safe approach.

Maybe others have further or different insights.
