Will the FQDN of domain client machine gets profiled in Endpoints using DHCP packets for profiling?

Jan 05, 2018 11:21 AM

Q:

Will the FQDN of domain client machines gets profiled in ClearPass Policy Manager Endpoints database using DHCP?

A:

On Profiling devices through DHCP, ClearPass server listens only for options 55 and 60.

As we can find FQDN of domain client through DHCP option 81, ClearPass server would not be able to profile it as of current version.

Other agents like ClearPass Onboard or OnGuard would profile the FQDN of the machines (i.e. update the hostname to the endpoints).
