Can AP Console access be restricted ?

Jul 14, 2015 08:35 AM

Q:

Can AP Console access be restricted ?

A:

Prior to 6.4.3, there was no password protection for AP console access. Anyone who gets plugged-in with a console cable into the AP’s console port could get access to AP’s system. As for some security sensitive implementations, this is unsecure, and need some protection to limit the access to AP console.

AP Console protection feature is available in 6.4.3 version. This feature is to enable password protection for AP console.

After we enable this feature, the user needs to insert the password and access the AP console.

Currently the feature supports all the controller modes on the AP. The feature supports CAP, RAP and mesh portal, mesh point.  *Controller Model: Controller6xx,Controller70xx,Controller72xx,ControllerMMC.
