Different methods for wireless client ageout from the controller

Feb 28, 2018 05:26 AM

Q:

What are the different ways in which wireless tunnel mode user entry ages out of the controller ?

A:

Wireless tunnel mode user can age out in one the following ways :

1. Client sends dis-association to the AP.

Client will age out after user idle timeout configured on the controller.

2.  Client loses power (remove the battery) or walks away without sending dis-association.

A tunnel mode client that drops off without sending a deauth will be subjected to a timeout of:

Maximum ( STA ageout,  user-idle timeout )

if sta ageout is 1000, and user-idle is 30, then the effective timeout is 1000.

If sta ageout is 100, and the user-idle is 300, then the effective timeout is 300.

3. AP reboot.

Client will age out after user idle timeout configured on the controller.
