1) Issue the 'show switches' command to identify the role of the controller. show switches All Switches------------IP Address Name Location Type Version Status Configuration State Config Sync Time (sec) -------------- ---- ---- ------------ ---- ------- ------ ------------------- ----------------- ----------------------10.88.0.8 control-2 Building1.floor1 standby 2.5.6.19 up UPDATE SUCCESSFUL 0
2) The Type field in the command output shows the controller role. In this output, the role is "standby". It can either be master, local, or standby.
Note: ArubaOS does not support clients on controllers when they are in "standby" mode.
