How do I manually change the time on an Aruba controller before and after daylight saving time?

Jul 07, 2014 05:38 PM

Question:  How do I manually change the time on an Aruba controller before and after daylight saving time?

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS versions.

Using the GUI of the controller:

Configuration > Clock > Make the necessary changes and it differs from country to country.

Using the CLI of the controller:
Aruba # configure terminal
Aruba (config) # clock <timezone> <name of the time zone> <Week number to start> <start day> < start month> <hh:mm> <Week number to end> < end day > <end month > <end month> <hh:mm> <Hours offset from UTC> <Minutes offset from UTC>

Example

(arubanetworks.com) (config) #clock summer-time EDT recurring 1 Sunday january 22:21 4 Monday march 22:12 -23 32

Daylight saving time (or summer time, as it is called in many countries) is a way of getting more light out of the day by advancing clocks by one hour during the summer. During daylight saving time, the sun appears to rise one hour later in the morning, when people are usually asleep anyway, and sets one hour later in the evening. In this way, the afternoons have more daylight.

Clocks are set one hour ahead during the spring, and one hour back to standard time in the autumn. Some countries observe DST, and some do not.
