How does Vendor specific information look like when the Linux machine is configured as DHCP server

How does Vendor specific information look like when the Linux machine is configured as DHCP server?



A:

To get the masterip from the Windows DHCP server, it sends the Vendor class identifier as "ArubaAP" for which in DHCP offer packet the server send the Vendor specific information as master controller IP address as numeric values. In this case we can see the Aruba controller IP looks like 32-bit decimal number.

 

However when Linux DHCP server is used, AP sends the Vendor class identifier as "ArubaAP" for which in DHCP offer packet the Linux server send the Vendor specific information as master controller IP address in the format of STRING as shown below:
