Apr 01, 2017 12:08 AM

Q:

What is the Password for AP Console when we telnet into an AP?

A:
1. We have an option in the "ap system-profile" to enable "telnet" access to an AP.
2. However, starting from 6.4.3.X, Password protection for AP shell access has been introduced.
3. "AP Console Protection" is enabled by default.
4. If we do "encrypt disable", we can get to see the password(usually a hashed value) that is configured.
5. we can re-configure it based on our requirement using the below command:-

 (Controller) (config) #ap system-profile default
 (Controller) (config) #ap-console-password <password>

6. Post which, we can use the new password to telnet into an AP
