What is the difference between the ?ip mobile proxy on? and ?ha-disc-onassoc? commands on VAPs available in ArubsOS?

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS 3.3.2.0 and later.

(config) #ip mobile proxy on-association?

The scope of this command is limited to within the controller. This command helps the client detect moves (bss1 > bss2) faster based on 802.11 association information. The client bridge table is updated to the new Wi-Fi tunnel as soon as the 802.11 association is made; otherwise at least one data packet is needed to fix its bridge entry.

(config) #wlan virtual-ap default

(virtual AP profile "default") #ha?

ha-disc-onassoc                Enables or disables on association Mobile IP HA discovery. (A new knob for this functionality was added under virtual-ap profile in ArubaOS 3.3.2.0.)

This command triggers HA discovery on the 802.11 association itself, which

expedites mobility convergence.  This command is useful for clients who make

silent moves (associates and goes to power save) such as Vo-WiFi phones.
