Why do I see the MAC address as FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-XX on my AP-80?

Jul 09, 2014 06:59 PM

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS versions.

Due to major functional and architectural enhancements in the 2.0.2.18B04 firmware, a direct upgrade from firmware 1.x versions to firmware A80_2.0.2.18B04 versions is not possible. An intermediate upgrade step (to version A80_1.1.9.7b05) must be taken to prepare the system for the upgrade to A80_2.0.2.18B04.

Sometimes after the code upgrade, the A and the G radio MAC address change to FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-XX.

If this change happens to the MAC address, the AP-80 must be reset to the factory default settings, or the hardware must be replaced using the RMA procedure.
