Will an Aruba-12x AP change its power level when it is supplied with more power?

Jul 06, 2014 10:29 AM

Product and Software: This article applies to ArubaOS 3.3.1.x and later.

The Aruba AP-12x supports three power profiles. Depending on the power profile, the major difference is the ability to support the second GE interface.

Power Profile #1 above 48.5V

Power Profile #2 45.1V - 48.5V

Power Profile #3 37V - 45.1V

Switch vendors are starting to increase the capacity of their redundant power supplies to increase the voltage. When the voltage is increased, the power profile will not change profiles. If a power supply fails, the power profile will change, and the second GE interface may shut down. This is the expected behavior. The APs are not expecting an increase in the voltage output.

To take advantage of the increased output, the access point will need to be reset
