Can I configure IAP to talk to activate using a static IP instead on DNS resolved IP?

May 20, 2016 01:05 PM

Q:

Can I configure IAP to talk to activate using a static IP instead on DNS resolved IP?

A:

Instant Access Points are by default designed to talk to activate server using DNS name i.e  device.arubanetworks.com. This is configured keeping in view that the static IP assignment might change and having DNS domain name would help devices across the globe resolve the new IP automatically.

This makes mandatory to have DNS server IP address configuration on Instant APs in the network inorder to speak to activate.

"show ap flash-config" would show the IP address and DNS server details of an IAP.
