What happens when an already configured IAP is added to a network that already has one or more IAPs running?

Jul 01, 2014 05:14 PM

Environment  :  This article applies to all Aruba Instant platforms and versions.

An Aruba Instant Network consists of at least one IAP and a virtual controller. The virtual controller resides within one of the IAPs. In an Aruba Instant deployment, only the first IAP needs to be configured. After the first IAP is deployed, the subsequent IAPs inherit all the required information from the virtual controller.

When an already configured IAP is plugged in to the same Layer 2 domain as another IAP, the new IAP is handled just like a factory-reset new IAP. The configuration from the already running IAP or IAPs is pushed to the added IAP. All existing configuration on the IAP that is being introduced is erased.

Note: All the IAPs must be on the same subnet.
