When do we see duplicate VCs in Central?

Mar 07, 2016 03:59 PM

Q:

When do we see duplicate VCs in Central?

A:

When do we see duplicate VCs in Central as shown below?

The issue arises with 2+ APs in a swarm.

AP    APstatus    guid     status

I1      Master       S1         UP

I2      Slave          S1         UP

I3      Slave          S1         UP

Lets say One master and one slave goes down. The other slave AP becomes master. Here other AP is getting another guid (split instead of swap).

AP    APstatus    guid     status

I1      Master       S1         Down

I2      Slave          S1         Down

I3      Master       S2         UP

Now when the previous master I1 comes up. It joins the new swarm.
We get two swarm entries, one with new guid with 1 master & 1 slave and other guid with 1 slave as shown below.

AP    APstatus    guid     status

I1      Slave          S2         UP

I2      Slave          S1         Down

I3      Master       S2         UP

As there is no Master for swarm S1 and still it holds this slave entries in the system which is causing duplicate entries in Aruba Central database.

The issue will be fixed when the l2 comes up and join S2 or creates new swarm entry for swarm S1.
