AP-205 suck in reboot loop

Hello,

I was given a brand new ap-205 to evaluate for a project, however I've run into an issue I haven't been able to resolve by reading the manual. I'm afraid I'm not an IT guy and fear I am in over my head... I'm hoping I can get some help here to direct me to what I need, it seems like we're missing something.

In short, it says to plug it in, give it an IP, connect to the "instant" wifi network, then configure using the web GUI.

Since it's just sitting on my desk without access to a DHCP server, I used the console port to set a static IP address and confirmed that it took the settings. However, it goes through a constant reboot loop. I tried a factory reset, but get the same results. Below I've copied and pasted what I get out of the console.

Re: AP-205 suck in reboot loop

The "Instant" setup refers to if the AP is running an Instant mode or an IAP. From the bootup, this appears to be running ArubaOS which would require a controller (or it is an Instant AP which has been converted).

You need to confirm if this is an IAP or an AP in the first instant. Does it say IAP-205 or AP205 on the back sticker? If it is an IAP you can reset it via the button back to InstantOS. If it is an AP-205 then you will need a controller.

Re: AP-205 suck in reboot loop

The sticker says "AP-205" on it, so it looks like they ordered the wrong version?

In the intended application they're looking to have this be standalone on an isolated network. Is "IAP-205" what they should have ordered then?

Thank you for your help, it's greatly appreciated.

Re: AP-205 suck in reboot loop

Yep, you'll need an IAP-205 if you wish to use it without a physical controller :)

Here's the datasheet, which lists the correct part code for an IAP.
