Problem:
The ALE location server process is responsible for the location calculation for clients. The most common issue reported after the initial setup of ALE is the location of the clients are not accurate or not being populated.
To determine if the location server service is running or not login to CLI as root user and execute the following command.
service locationserver status
To verify the reason for the service not running use the following command to look into the real-time feed.
tail -f /opt/ale/var/log/ls.py/current
The output of the command will show the following:
*** Campus Fetch Failed
The message above indicates that one of the following is incorrect on ALE
1. Airwave IP incorrect
2. Username or Password used to add Airwave is incorrect
3. ALE server is unable to reach Airwave due to a firewall blocking communication between Airwave and ALE
