    Hi!

I'm sure this must have been asked before, but I am unable to find it.

I have about 5x VMware hosts with 2x NIC's each. A trunk can consist of 8 ports. I have 2x 2930f's which means I need 2x trunks on each switch.

The question: should a trunk span the switches? I.E. should trk1 have 1/1,2/1,1/2,2/2 etc.? Or just create trk1 on sw1 and trk2 on sw2 etc.?

You can only span trunks (port-channels) across multiple switches in a stack (either stacking cable, or VSF). Then each switch will show up as a line-card in a single configuration and put a port from each switch in the trunk, for example 1/24,2/24.

    More on VSF here.

Yes, you can do trk crossing between 2 switches to 1 host.

VSF deployed on 10G ports as well.
