We are experiencing an issue where occasionally our Windows 7 HP machines will fail to respond to 802.1x authentication over wired connection when they are asleep.  Has anyone run into an issue like this before? When the machine wakes up it authenticates successfully, but the failures during sleep are messing up our monitoring. Or has anyone found a way to somehow distinguish whether the machine is sleeping or not? I'm afraid there's nothing in the radius packet that could identify it as asleep or not.

    I'd really appreciate any help!

Hummmm.  I've heard recently about some driver related issue which sounds very kuch like this problem. Let me see if I can track it down.
